Lost in Southern Spain :)

After spending some time together in Sevilla we went to Portugal again. This time with the campervan. And again the Algarve was really beautiful and we found nice spots to stay for the night. Since there are already so many pictures of Portugal on the blog and we didn't really visit new places, I will only share one special photo here. I was not aware when Carlos took it and I really really like it. I think it would be a perfect advertising for visiting the Algarve :)

Then it was time to say goodbye again. Carlos was busy with work and I hit the road again to explore Southern Spain. A few places I already knew because I've been there last year when travelling with my backpack. Still it's different visiting these places with the van. From Sevilla I went to Antequera, found a cute embalse (damn) on the way and made it to the Mediterranean Sea (Málaga).

From there I had a beautiful drive to Motril. I haven't explored this area before so I was curious to see what it was like. I stayed at Playa Granada and really liked it there.

It was end of November and the nights got quite cold. During the day and with loads of sun it was still warm and I spent most of the time outside. Walking along the beach, going for a run, reading, drinking coffee, watching people, thinking about life... And of course watching the sunset and the sunrise!

I kept driving along the coast to get to Cabo de Gata. The views were absolutely stunning! I had to stop several times :) Cabo de Gata is a natural park with a lighthouse. Maybe my expectations were too high. I heard and read about this place before and it sounded like it was a really special place. In reality it wasn't, at least not for me. It was nice, but nothing special.

But... on the way to the lighthouse I passed some salinas (not sure what might be the proper English translation. Maybe salt lake!?) and there were flamingos! That definitely was a great surprise and made my day!!!

My next stop was Mojácar, a tiny village in the Sierra Cabrera. Cute white houses, nice views over the mountains and to the sea. After visiting the village I drove to Playa de Mojácar to spend the afternoon and night there. A very quiet and peaceful stay.

Same same but different :) Some more driving along the coast to get to Cabo de Palos. I really liked this place! Nice walking along the beach and the night there was super special because it was a full moon.

That was my first week back on the road, getting a little bit lost in Southern Spain. Chasing sunrises and sunsets and figuring out where I wanna go and what I wanna do...
